Who we are

The University of Michigan Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering (COHSE) is a NIOSH Education and Research Center (ERC). The mission of our Center is to serve the region, nation, and world as a center of excellence for research and graduate education in Occupational Health & Safety. what we do

We maintain academic and research programs in the following disciplines:

• Industrial Hygiene

• Occupational Health Nursing

• Occupational Safety Engineering and Ergonomics

• Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology

• Hazardous Substances Academic Training

We offer the following types of funding:

• Traineeships - includes tuition and stipend for University of Michigan (UM) graduate students

• Research funds for both UM and non-UM researchers

We offer programs in:

• Continuing Education

• Outreach

University of Michigan students from the Hazardous Substances Academic Training (HSAT) Program at the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training in 2011.
