Members of the 2006-2007 Culture and Self lab group
Welcome to the Culture and the Self Website! Professor Daphna Oyserman, includes undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows who are interested in the influence of culture on how we think, what we do, and how the self is conceptualized. Our research examines differences among self-construals, racial and ethnic self-schemas, performance under stereotype threat, self-regulation and possible selves across and within cultures to gain a better understanding of how people perceive themselves. Data from laboratory experiments and randomized field trials are used in congruence with longitudinal field studies and interventions, allowing the program to make significant progress in the study of individuals in relation to their cultural backgrounds. The map below illustrates the different locations that have been sites for Culture and the Self research thus far.
