Focus

ITREOH - A Regional Southern African Program in Environmental and Occupational Health

Millennium Promise Program - Research Training on Chronic Lung Diseases in Southern Africa

These 2 complementary research training programs are designed to accelerate the building of capacity in environmental and occupational health in the 15 - country Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.  Among the methods for accomplishing this purpose is the funding of citizens from the SADC region to complete Masters and Doctoral degree programs.  There are only two countries (South Africa and Zimbabwe) in this region with any graduate degree programs. This regional limitation severely restricts the training of large numbers of occupational and environmental health professionals that is desperately needed in the region.  This 5 minute video presents an example of the importance of this work.
